From July 26, the VNeID application officially launched the “Aviation Service” feature at Terminal T3 – Tan Son Nhat Airport. This marks an important step in shortening procedures, improving accuracy, and reducing paperwork for airline passengers.
After 3 months of trial, more than 24,000 passengers have used the service. Vietnam Airlines recorded 14,770 uses across 6,555 flights, while Vietjet Air recorded 10,300 uses across 3,376 flights.
How to complete online check-in via the VNeID application
Eligibility:
Passengers must have the VNeID application installed with a Level 2 verified account.
The feature applies to domestic flights operated by Vietjet Air or the Vietnam Airlines Group, including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, and Vasco.
Step-by-step guide to online check-in on VNeID:
Log in to the VNeID app with your Level 2 verified account.
Step 1: Select “Other services.”

Step 2: Select “Aviation services.”

Step 3: Select “Online check-in,” press “Check in online,” then choose Vietnam Airlines or Vietjet Air.

*Note: If the passenger’s phone does not yet have the Vietnam Airlines/Vietjet Air application installed or updated to the required version, the system will redirect to Apple Store or Google Play for installation or update.
Step 4: After agreeing to the terms of data sharing and processing, the passenger will be redirected to the Vietnam Airlines/Vietjet Air app to complete the online check-in process and perform identity verification (eKYC). Please carefully follow all requirements.

Step 5: Complete biometric verification at the airport security checkpoint.
Step 6: Complete biometric verification again at the boarding gate.
eKYC identity verification:
This step can be skipped when checking in online. However, in order to use biometric authentication at automated gates, passengers must complete this process on the VNeID app:
Step 1:Open the VNeID app and select “Other services.”
Step 2:Select “Aviation services.”
Step 3:Select “Online check-in.”
Step 4:Choose the corresponding airline: Vietnam Airlines or Vietjet Air.
Step 5:Enter PNR, e-ticket number, or FFP card number.
After entering the details, the app will display a notification screen with a “Perform eKYC” button. Select this to capture photos and verify identity.
With this feature, passengers can save time at check-in and move quickly through automated gates from security screening to boarding.
According to the plan, starting September 2025, VNeID will expand this feature to multiple airports across Vietnam. The Ministry of Public Security aims that by the end of 2025, 70% of domestic passengers will use biometric recognition to complete flight procedures.
